Join participants from the QCH Social Adult Day Center and DanceStream teaching artists for an interactive performance and presentation of zines created by older adults and people living with dementia across Queens.
Over the past several months, Raising Our Voices has brought DanceStream Projects' dance and brain health work into five communities of older adults and people living with dementia across Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
Working alongside Mark Timmons, a poet living with dementia and DanceStream's teaching artists, participants have been creating their own poems and translating their words, memories, ideas, and experiences into movement-based language.
The project explores what happens when dance and poetry become tools for expression, connection, creativity, and being heard.
Now, we're getting ready to celebrate—and share—what participants have created through a series of culminating events this December.
We'd love for you to join us in celebrating the voices, creativity, and movement that have emerged through Raising Our Voices.
This program is offered in partnership with the Queens Community House Social Adult Day Center. For more information contact Brooke at (718)-592-5757 - Ex 230.
