Created and offered in partnership with UCSF Memory and Aging Center Creative Minds and Community Outreach Program, Every Body Moves is a dance and fitness program for older adults designed to promote brain health and support creativity.
Every Body Moves is evidence informed, incorporating elements of dance and physical activity that influence positive support of brain health: aerobic activity, balance, coordination, strength training, social connection and creative engagement.
The program is offered virtually, hybrid and in person with accommodations for seated and standing activities so all can participate safely.
Since 2021, we have partnered with and continue to collaborate with the following communities in San Francisco:
Mission Neighborhood Center (offered bilingual Spanish/English)
On Lok 30th St. Center (offered bilingual Spanish/English)
Dr. Davis Center
Openhouse + On Lok “Club 75”
Tzu Chi Center (offered bilingual Mandarin/English)
UCSF Memory and Aging Center and Global Brain Health Institute medical doctors, researchers and staff join the programs as co-facilitators and participants, building a new embodied relationship of the benefits of dance on brain health, while also connecting with local elders in a new co-creative fashion. The relationships, trust and understanding built together lay a foundation for future collaborations and collectively overcoming inequities around brain health one community at a time.
