Programs
Central to the vision of DanceStream Projects is the use of dance as a social practice to elevate individuals' creative voices and promote their brain health.
DanceStream Projects brings artists and older adults and people living with dementia together to discover, write and present their own stories using dance.
Our sequential dance programs enhance tools of co-creative dance and storytelling while applying evidence-informed benefits of dance to support and extend brain health.
Programs for People Living with Dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment
Stories in the Moment® partners with communities of people living with dementia to amplify their voice. This co-creative dance and storytelling program, is designed to boost brain health, support creativity, and expand resources for connection and communication.
Programs are offered bi-monthly online through the Dementia Action Alliance serving people living with dementia in diverse communities across the US. Partnerships with the Queens Community House Adult Day Services, PSS Circle of Care, and the Rubin Museum, among others, are supporting local communities of people living with dementia in New York City to (re)integrate their voices into the fabric of society while transforming narratives of dementia.
Programs for Maintaining Brain Health
We offer several community dance programs for older adults which apply evidence informed impacts of dance to positively support brain health and to build brain healthy habits. Our programs partner with community and academic organizations to ensure these important benefits of dance for brain health reach communities most at risk for adverse brain health.
Our three signature programs are:
Education Programs
Our education programs translate complex public health and neuroscience concepts into fun, accessible and engaging events that celebrate community and seed brain healthy habits.
Supporting education and community dialogue around these topics is pivotal to promoting agency in brain health across the lifespan for all.
We partner with community serving organizations to offer our educational programs in person and online. Interested in partnering with us to offer a program? Contact us at: magda@dancestreamprojects.com or call 917-336-9018.
