February 2026 Edition: Love on Top: Giving Rise to Hope
Dear friend,
This month, we’re celebrating the many ways love shows up across the DanceStream Projects community — as courage, commitment, joy, and radical presence, especially in the face of challenge.
We see it in the dedicated community centers across NYC, with whom we are honored to partner, that ensure elders and people living with dementia are supported and never navigating this journey alone.
We hear it in the powerful example of Helen B. Medsger on Season 2, Episode 2 of the Dancing into Brain Health podcast, where she shares how caring for three family members with Lewy Body Dementia inspired her to transform grief into global advocacy: “Those hard lessons really lit a fire in me… my mission became that no other family should have to go through what we had.”
We witness love embodied every week in our Stories in the Moment® programs, where this month, we collaborated on co-creating dance stories that demonstrate the many ways that those living with dementia and those who partner with them in care see love manifest in their daily lives — in puppy kisses, joyful embraces, and fireworks of connection stretching across the continent through our online community. Built on the belief that movement is a universal language, these programs remind us that even when words feel distant, expression and belonging remain within reach.
We also experienced love in action this month, partnering with the NYU Langone ADRC outreach team and the Roberto Clemente Center at NYC Health + Hospitals for a bilingual morning of dance and brain health. We witnessed the power of dance to transcend barriers, cultivate connection and amplify care.
As we head toward March and Brain Awareness Week campaigns worldwide, we invite you to carry this love forward. Join one of our free weekly in person or online dance programs, tune into the Dancing into Brain Health podcast, meet us at an upcoming conference or community event — or simply turn on your favorite song and share a Signature Move with someone you love.
We can’t wait to dance with you and show how love is the one force that multiplies every time it’s shared.
With love,
