Shining a Light on Brain Health, Dancing into Fall Together

What a joyful day of movement, connection, and brain health! DanceStream Projects was honored to join the First Presbyterian Church Fall Festival alongside our friends at Jamaica Older Adult Center and Queens Community House.
Dozens of local community members came out to dance together, laugh together, and spark their brains with a little brain health trivia! From movement to memory, we celebrated the simple ways that connection, creativity, curiosity, and joy can support brain health and healthy aging.
DanceStream Projects dance artists Hilary Brown-Istrefi, Sophia Varon-Fowler and executive director Magda Kaczmarska guided the community in joyous dance to spark brain health and build connection!
We are so grateful to everyone who joined us on the dance floor and helped make the day so special. You are all Shining Stars! ✨
We were also delighted to connect and dance with older adult participants from our dance program at Jamaica Older Adult Center. This event served as an invigoration and celebration of the role of dance in sparking brain health in community. We are excited to carry this energy forward as we continue to connect together weekly through the Raising Our Voices dance and poetry project. Culminating events will be announced this Fall.
Are you interested in joining a dance program at the Jamaica Older Adult Center? We are offering weekly free dance programs from 2:30-4:00pm through December. Learn more here
We look forward to continuing to build joyful, creative opportunities that bring our community together and inspire healthy aging, hope, and agency.
